I am Brooke O'Donovan, a first year Bachelor of Journalism / Bachelor of Arts (Psychology Extended Major / Philosophy Minor) dual degree student at the University of Queensland, Australia.
I am passionate about the human process and understanding why people are the way they are and why we do the things we do. I value people sharing their experiences and perspectives with me, and writing about these.
I approach stories and research questions with an angle that feels personal and unique.
I find value in creating, and that value becomes warmth when I share my work with others and receive feedback about how people I have never met before might relate to my writing, develop an interest in the topics I talk about, or feel inspired to follow their passions and their own dreams when they see me doing what I want to do despite external criticism for aspects of my social media life, like the degree I chose to study.
I have written articles for my local newspaper, including local entertainment news and psychological theory.
I run a personal Substack profile, posting articles I write out of an interest and passion to combine my study areas of journalism, psychology and philosophy for my subscribers.
I work in a marketing and administrative role at a psychology clinic, where I write blog posts and create content for the business I am employed with.
I have a YouTube channel where I post short musings about how I perceive psychological concepts I learn and have an interest in to connect with my own life and experiences, as well as in a more generalisable, broader context.
I have a TikTok account where I post my daily lifestyle, events I attend, and journalistic work for my small but consistent and growing community of followers.
